CAPT Thomas M Johnson

CAPT Thomas JohnsonThomas M Johnson, CAPT MC USN graduated from Haverford College with honors in 1985 and received a medical degree from the University of Minnesota in 1989. He completed an internship at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center and received further training as an Undersea Medical Officer. He served as the Submarine Squadron 14 Undersea Medical Officer in Holy Loch, Scotland from 1990 to 1992. He completed a residency in neurology at the National Naval Medical Center, after which he practiced neurology at Naval Hospital, Camp Pendleton. He was deployed as the Undersea Medical Officer for the Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) exercise in Asia in 1997 and subsequently was assigned as a staff neurologist at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego. He was stationed at the Navy Experimental Diving Unit (NEDU) from 1999 to 2002, and was the principal investigator on a research project to develop repetitive decompression tables for Explosive Ordnance Disposal divers. This research has since been used to help create decompression tables that are used by U S Navy divers all over the world. CAPT Johnson was deployed to Iraq in 2006. Currently he is a neurologist at Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune. He is a graduate of the Naval War College and has published a variety of technical reports and papers, primarily concerned with diving and mild traumatic brain injury.
