Sarah Asmussen (Rau), PhD
Director, Camp Pendleton Concussion Clinic

Dr Asmussen graduated from Pacific Graduate School of Psychology (PGSP), a Stanford Affiliate and APA Accredited Clinical Psychology Program with a Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology. She also completed a Certificate Program in Neuropsychology at PGSP and later attended an APA accredited internship program at the James A Haley VA and Medical Center, Tampa, FL with an emphasis on Clinical Psychology/ Neuropsychology.

Her four rotations included Spinal Cord Injury/Dysfunction Rehabilitation; Tampa General Hospital Pediatric Rehabilitation, Childrens Burn Center, and Acute Trauma Psychology; Traumatic Brain Injury/Rehab Clinical Neuropsychology; and Memory Disorders Clinic. Following internship she completed a Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship at Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) in Phoenix, AZ (APPIC accredited). Her rotations over two years included the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), Inpatient Neurorehabilitation (SCI, CVA and Tumor focus), Inpatient Neurorehabilitation (acute TBI and pediatric focus), and Outpatient Neuropsychology Services.

She has been involved in research over the years and recently published an article on epilepsy and depression.

Since OCT 2008, Dr Asmussen has worked as a Clinical Neuropsychologist at the Defense & Veterans Brain Injury Center at Navy Medical Center San Diego & Camp Pendleton. She became Acting Clinic Director of Camp Pendleton Concussion Clinic in JUN 2009 and moved into the Clinic Director position in DEC 2009.
